by Andrew Alonzo | aalonzo@claremont-courier.com Donald DeLano, the driving force behind Pomona Fairplex's abundant foliage since 1991, is hanging up his gloves. 'My mind's there, but my body is not,' said DeLano, 69, citing health concerns as the main reason he's retiring. Over those 31 years he's cemented his legacy. He's overseen all of Fairplex's 487 acres year-round, and established a farm-to-table dining experience at the nearby Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center, among many other accomplishments.
